Towards the end of WW II, my dad and a friend or two managed to get away with fattening a couple of pigs in a shed behind our house. Early one morning I saw them hanging in a tree behind the house, where dad and a butcher friend were slaughtering them.
When my dad saw that I had seen what they were doing, he rushed upstairs and said: "If you tell anyone what you have seen, I will kill you!" I now understand that if anyone had seen what I saw, my dad and his pals would likely have been shot on sight. I guess he had to make really sure that I would keep my mouth closed.
It worked.
